  • Welcome to my simple, serene and cosy home. I had the challenge of doing a complete overhaul for a 40-year-old 3-room flat to make it as spacious as possible, as well as functional. It cost $70k by Anhans. Nothing really fancy but it costs so much partly because of the age of the flat. Walls were hacked and the flooring was completely hacked and redone, and there was quite a few essential built-in carpentry. I will share before-and-after pictures in my next post. Here, the wall between the living room and bedroom was replaced by a glass partition with a sliding door. The bedroom was converted into a home office. Instead of having everything open, I preferred to do a glass partition to block out sound and contain air con. So I would say the area is 'open yet closed'.
  • Around 75% of my loose furniture is from Hipvan. I want to support local, I like the shopping experience and their customer service and assembly team are really professional. The sofa is described as 'pet-friendly' and although I don't have pets, I take it that it means the sofa is easy to maintain or it isn't easily scratched, so I decided to buy it. It isn't the very soft type that you can sink in, but is quite comfortable and fits in well in the space. The bench is quite useful as there is storage inside, and I can place shoes under it too.
  • As you can see, it's all very simple here. I don't even have pendant lights as my ceiling is low and I might knock into them. The kitchen walls were replaced by a glass sliding door. Again, to block out sound from the kitchen and contain air con within the area.
  • I really like this shelf for its design and the fact that it fits in nicely in this wall space.
  • The kitchen tiles are the same vinyl as the rest of the house, for a seamless appearance. They are quite easy to maintain. The flooring of the kitchen was leveled up.
  • My ID wanted to build a cabinet around the fridge but I didn't like the idea of closing in my fridge. I'm aware it looks a bit exposed. So I decided to get this white cabinet instead. I like that the shelf inside is removable, and I can put things on it.
  • I had the sink in the bathroom removed and placed outside instead, to have more showering space. The washing machine is built into a cabinet in the service yard.
  • The study room has ample storage and shelving, and has enough space for two people to do their work comfortably.
  • I'm a single living with 2 kids. Therefore, the study room also serves as a bedroom, with the kids sleeping on this pull-out bed. The wall between the 2 bedrooms was hacked to create a bigger study and a smaller master-bedroom.
  • Here is my bedroom with my super-single bed. The Levitate mattress is really thick and makes me 'levitate', haha. The built-in wardrobe is really spacious and is like my mini storeroom.
