  • Welcome to our fifth post about @ourcarousellhome! This week, we’re diving into the vanity area. We initially hesitated to share since we don’t have a dedicated vanity table like many others, but that was a purposeful choice during our renovation. After second thoughts, we realised there are likely others out there who, like us, don’t need a dedicated vanity table. So here’s our take on a hotel-inspired standing vanity that utilises the existing space in our master bedroom. Read on to learn more!
  • We designed a space just outside our toilet for a laundry basket and asked our ID to install a hair dryer outlet. This allows me to blow-dry my hair easily and do my makeup while standing in the toilet—just like a hotel! I also added a facial tissue holder for quick access during our morning wash-ups.
  • We had our ID install a full-length mirror on the wardrobe door, initially for checking our outfits. It’s turned out to be the perfect spot for blow-drying my hair too, thanks to the Dyson hair dryer that extends out, as you can see in the mirror! #ProTip: Keep the mirror hidden in the wardrobe for feng shui benefits. Plus, it won’t collect dust. :)
  • I’m not really into makeup, and I don’t need to sit down for my skincare routine. I mainly apply my skincare after showering while standing in the toilet. That’s why our ID designed a tall mirror with storage—it not only elongates the bathroom but also creates a hotel-like vibe. Plus, the LED strips on the sides provide just the right lighting without being too harsh on the eyes. Stay tuned for more details in an upcoming bathroom post.
  • There’s plenty of storage for both my husband and me, though I take up about two-thirds of it. The bottom shelf holds my skincare and body lotion, while the middle shelf is reserved for my makeup remover, contact lens solution, and my husband’s skincare. The top shelf, which we access less frequently, contains deodorants, sunscreen sprays for outdoor use, and hair care products.
  • Another area I consider part of our vanity is the makeup section. I keep my combs and minimal makeup items—like mascara, eyeliner, brushes, concealer, and lip tints—along with my perfume, hair ties, and hair clips. I also store my sanitary pads and cotton pads here. The IKEA vanity organiser fits perfectly, and I absolutely love it—highly recommend it! That’s all for today’s post! Stay tuned for the next one!
