  • Welcome to our humble nest! We are a couple living with our cat, Daikon, who's sure to make an appearance in some of our posts. Keep an eye out — you never know when she'll pop up in the background! As we open our home and showcase the little treasures within, we hope you feel the warmth and love that fills our heart. After all, our handle is @hellokokoro, where "kokoro" means heart! *** For today's post, let's step into our kitchen, where practicality meets charm. The soft neutral tones and clean lines work wonders in opening up the space, making it feel more airy and spacious. The seamless integration of our washing machine, alongside the dishwasher, highlights how thoughtful the layout is, especially for our kitchen where maximising space is a priority. What do you think of mixing laundry and kitchen spaces like this?
  • The under-cabinet lighting adds a unique ambiance and helps to illuminate the tabletop area, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Additionally, we opted for shaker panels to introduce a classic farmhouse feel to our kitchen. Their clean, structured lines bring a timeless appeal that complements the modern features of the space. If you take a closer look, you'll see that the ceiling strip above the cabinetry is painted to match the cabinets, creating a framed effect that enhances visual interest. This design choice not only unifies the space but also adds depth, drawing the eye upward, giving the kitchen a more polished look.
  • This photo offers a different perspective of the kitchen. Although the top and bottom carpentry may appear similar, they are actually different laminates! We like how they come together for a subtly unique yet cohesive look. Another interesting bit about this kitchen is that the layout is actually triangular — a feature we'll get to see more clearly in upcoming photos.
  • Again, another vibe-change with the under-cabinet lighting in play! This lighting can be turned on with a simple gesture as it uses a wave-activated sensor which is cleverly hidden underneath one of our overhung cabinet.
  • This photo captures the kitchen's entrance, where the unique triangular layout is more apparent. The frosted curved glass panel, concealing the common bathroom, offers privacy, yet still allowing natural light to softly filter through. The curved bathroom wall gently guides you into the kitchen, introducing a fluid architectural element to the space. Originally a small confined doorway, this redesigned entrance now significantly enhances the kitchen's openness, improving the flow and creating a more spacious and welcoming atmosphere.
  • Here, we catch a glimpse into the living area from the kitchen, showcasing the seamless flow of the open-plan design. The curved transition where two contrasting floor tiles meet adds a visually interesting transition. The louvered sliding doors introduce a modern touch, while the charming wooden flower hooks add warmth and character. You might have also noticed that our wall panels extend from the living room into the kitchen, continuing the theme of our modern farmhouse, reinforcing our home's contemporary rustic aesthetic.
  • A closer look at these adorable yet highly functional hooks. Love how they add a playful charm to the space!
  • Let's turn our attention back to the kitchen countertop! Our compact backsplash, with its subtle limewash effect, brings an extra layer of texture and depth, enhancing the visual intrigue of the space. If you've seen our Living Room post, it mirrors the textured paint feature wall in the adjoining foyer, creating a seamless flow and sense of unity across our home's design. The quartz countertop, adorned with delicate veins, pairs effortlessly with the backsplash. Together, these elements form a space that feels well-balanced and visually soothing. To top it off, our sleek induction hob adds to the kitchen's clean, modern aesthetic, tying the entire space together.
  • Just below the hob, we have two deep drawers adorned with ornate bronze handles that infuse a touch of vintage charm into the kitchen. These handles complement the delicate ceramic knobs which you will see in the next photo, creating a cohesive design. The curved shape of the handles not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also ensures a comfortable grip for easy access to the larger drawers.
  • And here are the ceramic knobs we mentioned! Aren't they adorable with their pumpkin shape? Each knob features a delicate leaf design painted on them, adding a whimsical touch to the overall decor.
  • Here’s a close-up view of our kitchen and bathroom switches. The miniature gacha figures resting atop the switches add a delightful surprise and a touch of joy to the design. We’ve chosen to use these sleek switches throughout our home, as their modern design makes them easy and comfortable to operate. There’s no going back to traditional switches now!
  • Check out these charming crochet flowers hanging from one of our kitchen knobs. Adding yet another delightful element to the space and enhancing the farmhouse vibe we love.
  • The couplets “日日是好日” and “时时是好时” translate to “Every day is a good day” and “Every moment is a good moment.” These phrases embody a positive outlook on life, encouraging us to appreciate the beauty in each day and every moment. They provide an inspirational sentiment that invites us to cherish life’s simple pleasures—like savoring a warm drink and taking the time to slow down. That concludes our kitchen tour. We hope you enjoyed it and stay tuned for our next post!
