  • Welcome to our kitchen! This is where the chef husband does his magic and it's the area of the house where he calls all the shots. We have a galley-style, closed kitchen concept due to the heavy cooking that we do at home. We love the idea and look of an open-concept kitchen with an island to mingle with guests, but it simply wasn't practical for our lifestyle or our house layout. So, we choose to focus on the positive and we'd like to share with you the advantages of our closed kitchen! :) We knocked down the service yard wall to create a larger kitchen with an area for laundry. This is the 3D render of our kitchen!
  • We didn't want to install a glass door as it hinders our movement when bringing hot food from the kitchen to the dining table. We decided to get a curtain from Taobao and it worked perfectly! When we do heavy cooking, we keep the curtain closed so that the fumes, grease and heat stay in the kitchen. This curtain also comes in handy when we have the AC turned on in the living room, so the AC doesn't have to work so hard to cool the living + dining area. The curtain is easily replaceable and we can easily change it out in the future. It's also way cheaper than a door! We also have a 6 door/drawer fridge and we love it for the myriad of compartments and inner drawers it has. It helps us keep our fridge tidy and organised. It also comes with an automatic ice maker!
  • The main highlight of our kitchen is our 90cm Bertazzoni standalone cooker. We chose the one in white to match our top cabinets! We decided on two-toned laminates and chose white for the top cabinets, since there were less of them and are easier to maintain. I took a loooooooooooooong time deciding on the wood laminates because I was so picky about the grain lines and colour. This laminate is used throughout the kitchen and I have to say that I love it so much! The colour is so soothing, light and pale enough, yet slightly warm. :) It is PANAPLAST T-WN 967N!
  • We chose these small matte white tiles with peach grouting as our backsplash, which is the same as our master bathroom. We love the look of it! The peach grouting adds a fun and playful touch, while the tiles remind us of japanese/korean cafes. On the left side, we have all our condiments for cooking within easy reach. It creates visual clutter but it is functional for us. On the right is our hot drinks station, with packets of tea and Milo! If you notice, our Bertazzoni cooker is also on a concrete base, as it was needed to match the height of our countertops.
  • We have opted for drawers instead of casement doors for our kitchen counters and cabinets as we find them more functional. We also have two pull-out counter tops for more prep space!
  • Here's a closer look at the pull out counter top beside the stove. We also use this when sorting our laundry. You can also see the socket and kitchen towel we have hidden under the top cabinets.
  • I found this super cute poster on Shopee and thought it would be perfect in our kitchen, to compliment the chef ;) I also have this cute rattan tiered tray to keep our cloves of garlic and onions. I sewed little 'placemats' to make it more aesthetic and to catch all the little flakes that drop off.
  • Here we have little Remy on top of the frame!
  • One thing in our kitchen that surprises our guests would be the height of our countertops. They're higher than average at 1m tall, to cater to my husband's height! It is a very comfortable height for him; a bit tall for me, but I'm able to work with it!
  • A sneak of my husband cooking us dinner!
  • Our drinks station. We have another socket and the switches for the cooker and hood.
  • The aliens on a burger car! The pickle wheels are so cute!
  • A peek into our deep drawers using the Blum tandembox S3 systems designed to carry loads up to 65kg! Here's my collection of pretty/cute assorted plates!
  • And our Corelle dinnerware for family dinners. I also stashed our ziplock bags here. We chose these drawers so that we can keep heavier items like bakeware, pots and pans as well if needed.
  • Beside our fridge, we have a tall cabinet which serves as our dry pantry - the Blum space tower! When we saw it in the Blum showroom, we knew we needed it in our kitchen. We have our snacks, supplements, sauces, pasta, noodles, rice and etcetera all stored here. :)
  • On the other side of the kitchen, we have open shelves and a lot more counter space for our coffee station, huge farmhouse sink, water dispenser, dishwasher and air fryer. You can also see our open shelves and decor here! We have an industrial sized box of cling wrap, which is more economical (according to the chef). I have embraced it and decided to have it up there for easy access, since we use it quite often. It is now a statement piece for conversation starters hahah!
  • Here's our little coffee station with our Nespresso Vertuo, which works hard daily for Cam's daily coffee.
  • Here's our little toy story scene. We have the Starship model, which is a functioning BLOWTORCH from SpaceX! We included our little Toy Story aliens and figurines to create a rocket launch scene :D
  • I love to craft, so I made this little Welcome sign hehe.
  • We bought this Nespresso pod drawer from Shopee! Perfect for displaying and organising our pods.
  • On the open shelves, we have our alcohol on display. We don't drink, but have them for special occasions when guests are over! I also have some decorative items like Mrs Potts and Chip! :)
  • We have another pull-out tray table on this side of the kitchen, which we also use for food prep. It comes in very handy especially when the counter top is cluttered or full!
  • Last but not least, we have our water dispenser, cutting boards, and air fryer in our service yard area beside the sink. We also have a dishwasher here, which is a lifesaver, since we love to host our family and friends often! I'll share more in my future post about the service yard~ That's about it for now! I hope you enjoyed a tour of our kitchen :)
