  • Hello everyone! We're a pair of pottery enthusiasts and we've been learning to make ceramics for 4 years now. When we finally received our keys to our BTO in Tampines, we were so excited to incorporate our hobby into our home. In our brief to our Interior Designer, we asked for lots of natural-looking materials such as wood and stone in a mix of both dark and light shades. We then complemented the design with solid wood furniture and pieces of stoneware as decor. In total, we spent about $85k on our renovations. This is easily our favourite corner of our home, where we have carved out a space to display our handmade pottery and brew our own coffee. When we have guests over, this is also where everyone hangs out for a good meal.
  • We're all about textures! We love the feel of the various grains and surfaces, and how they all come together.
  • A closer look at the display!
  • To balance out the busyness of our dining area, we left our living room open and spacious. This gives us ample room for lounging around with our guests or playing with our cat.
  • Our living and dining areas flow seamlessly into our open-concept kitchen, where we have carefully planned out the placement of each appliance and prioritised counter space. We enjoy cooking and baking so this kitchen is truly a dream come true! As our BTO project did not come with a utility area, we had to figure out a way to meet both our cooking and laundry needs without the space feeling too cluttered. We're one month into living in our home and thus far, this layout has been working well for us.
  • Doing away with one of our study room walls allowed us to let more natural light into our kitchen. We've replaced it with a set of custom-made shoji-style doors to demarcate the space and keep some privacy for when we need to work at our desks.
  • Step into our guest bathroom, an oasis of relaxation. The large format tiles and pale, travertine-like texture creates a sense of calmness and openness despite the small space. Having a bathtub in our home was one of our non-negotiables. We wanted it to be placed in the guest bathroom so that it would be used solely for the purpose of soaking in a hot bath rather than for showers. This request was often met with skepticism when we were on the search for an ID, but we're really thankful to have found someone who welcomed our ideas and made it happen.
  • Our guest room blends together comfort and fun. Tired after a night of feasting and gaming? No problem, just roll over and crash on our couch.
  • We liked the idea of having a walk-in wardrobe, but worried about feeling claustrophobic in our own bedroom. As a compromise, we settled for an L-shaped cabinet with a half-height island. The island doubles as a vanity dresser and chest of drawers, which gives us sufficient storage space while maintaining a sense of openness.
  • Our master bathroom door slides into the back of our cabinets to reveal dark grey and walnut, a contrast from the colours in our master bedroom. Keeping to the overall theme of the house, we've gone with stone-like tiles for the walls and wood-grain tiles for the floor in the shower.
  • Our favourite part of our master bathroom is definitely the shower! The concealed shower mixer keeps the space neat and the niche is a perfect size for storing all our soaps. We're also super happy that we made the decision to invest in hansgrohe fittings. Every shower is like a trip to the spa. Rainshower reveal the next time?
