  • With a huge rectangular shaped living room, allow us to carve out two space to cater to our growing family. We bought a huge 8 seater sofa to demarcate the space between adults entertainment (with TV) and baby play area. It is always a struggle to style a huge sofa. So our solution is to add throw pillows of different texture and colours to bring out the warmth. A hug soft blanket in neutral tone also allows us to pair it easily with any change of colours on our throw pillows. We also had to ensure the materials we use do not trap furs. Our dogs love lounging on the sofa, and beagles do shed! Leather makes the sofa really easy to clean. It is also water proof! So even dogs drools can be easily wiped off.
  • Netflix has been an integral part of our wind down activity. So we had a sound bar installed to give a good acoustic to the movies we are watching. For maximum entertainment, we also got ourselves a karaoke machine, allowing friends and families to belt it out during gatherings!
  • We had also kept everything modular, so once our kid is able to walk and start curiously exploring the space, we can easily reconfigure the space.
  • Right now, our solution is to install wall shelf, so as to still display knick-knacks that we love.
  • Behind the sofa, we created a little space for our 7 months old baby. This used to be a space where we had our lounge chair and a read nook. But it has now been invaded by all things baby. It is almost impossible to keep the correct colour harmony with baby items! So we added a confetti modular playpen mat just to tie the colours together.
  • We still kept our books by the playpen so that we can enjoy reading time with our baby. Most of the books are kept in the shelf (especially our favourite books) to keep it out of reach from our baby. Using a book stand, we keep the ones that we are currently reading close to our reach.
  • We installed a open shelve in attempt to create a montessori style activity area. So far, it has been not easy to maintain the tidiness of it. We are exploring ratten boxes to help keep things a little more in control.
  • Before the baby came along, we also had all our plants in this area. We love lounging here, reading a book, and looking at our plants. But since the baby came along, we had to keep our plants out of reach. So we installed a wooden table top to give our plant babies maximum access to the warm sunlight that streams through these windows.
