    • Welcome to our small yet mighty living room where we rest, host, play and work all in the same space ✨ The living room is the heart of our home. We had a vision before we moved in to grow our family memories and items that hold meaning to us as a feature along the walls of this rectangle space. Over the years, the initially bared wall has grew so much, adding to the warmth and coziness of our living room.
    • 👀 A view of our living room from the dining area.. (Read more about our dining nook in our previous post)
    • Our living room has gone through multiple changes over the years too, as with our entire home. Loose furniture allows for this flexibility that we enjoy! 😌 We used to have a TV console but we sold it on Carousell when we needed more space for Little ☁️’s play area. Hence, we repurposed a simple 4-tier shelf (that was previously used in 👵🏻 G’s work area) to hide the TV electrical point, wifi router, charging cables, etc. It’s always a happy surprise when we shift furniture around the house and it fits perfectly with its new place and purpose! 🥲 To hide the messy wires, we cut a spare floral fabric to drape over the shelf.
    • ✨ Shelf styling tips: - Drape a patterned fabric over the shelf to soften the surface - Layer heights of different items - Add a small vase of flowers or foliage and it will never go wrong (change it as and when you feel like it to freshen the look)
    • We upgraded our sofa to a sofa bed just a year ago so that this space can also be transformed into a sleeping area. This custom sofa bed that fits in our small space can open up to a queen-size bed. It is also scratch-free and stain-proof. We had a lot of naps here with ☁️ when she was a newborn.
    • Many of our guests asked us if we planned the items to be pasted on our walls since it looked congruent as a whole. Truth is, we added piece by piece over the years and the placement of each one, it’s all by intuition.. 🫢 The purpose of our feature walls were never about having everything in perfect place or aesthetic, so it didn’t fret us much when it started out awkward with 2-3 items in the middle of a bare wall. We knew it will build up to something more over the years.. so we simply trust the process 🍃
    • ✨ If there’s a styling tip that we can share for gallery walls: don’t be afraid to mix up textures, shapes, sizes! This is a poem by Lang Leav that we used at our wedding written in beautiful calligraphy 🤍
    • Another reason of having gallery walls is because our small home don’t allow for decor that takes up floor space. All kinds of decor can be added to a gallery wall, not just photo/art print frames! P.S. All our frames are held up by 3M photo strips - fingers crossed, they have been up for years and haven’t dropped. We trust 3M this much 😉
    • It is also a meaningful tradition that we want for our family to take photos during yearly celebrations in front of our growing gallery walls 💌 This was Little ☁️’s 100 days celebration this year in which we positioned the decor setup in front of our gallery walls.
    • Little ☁️’s play and reading area fills the middle part of our living room. We envision more changes here as she grows. Follow along our IG (@hepromisedheraforest) as we share the changes through the years! We thrifted a vintage cabinet that fits perfectly against this narrow wall - thrifting joys ✨ - and it houses Little ☁️’s books.
    • 📷 A garden art print placed beside the door that leads to our balcony garden.
    • In a small home and shared space, it’s important for items to be movable or can be stowed away. Hence, we bought a playmat that can be opened in half or full, and can be folded and kept in a corner. This is one of our best baby buy! ✨
    • The other side of our living room has a built-in wardrobe as this is initially the ‘Master Bedroom’ area in the original layout of our Dual-key Apartment. This wardrobe is used mainly for storage of 👵🏻 G’s floral business supplies, and other items that usually goes into a ‘Study room’. This area is 👵🏻 G’s little floral studio where she works at.
    • We love the flexibility and ease of styling IKEA’s Billy Bookcases! 🥹 The shelves’ level can be easily shifted so 👵🏻 G styled a level for a thrifted vintage mirror that she uses to see the mirror image of the flowers she arranged.
    • ✨ Shelf styling tip: Add a tension rod and short curtain to hide any clutter (👵🏻 G hid the vases she use for her floral arrangements here).
    • 📷 A little work space corner Repurposed the hanging paper lanterns from 👵🏻 G’s sister’s wedding decor to style something cute and dangling from the ceiling!
    • Thoughtfully putting together the bits and pieces of inspiring decor in a work space really lifts one’s mood and refreshes motivation if you work from home! 🌼

    • Every living room needs a warm lamp! 🌙 When we want a change in atmosphere to wind down, gather around to chat, or enjoy a movie at the end of the day, we always on this lamp and it softens the environment and mood instantly.
    • So here’s the heart of our home designed simply with loose furniture and meaningful styling 🤍 We hope you enjoyed our living room tour and the styling tips we shared are useful! 🥰
