  • Hello and welcome back to posts by Trunksandtrees! Today, we are sharing about how we styled our spaces with faux plants. "Why not just stick to real plants?" You may ask. For us, we were not committed to keeping the flora alive and wanted to avoid dealing with any pests that may come with the greenery as well. That said, we do agree that real plants provide the best natural look for your home and that faux plants may come across as pretentious. Perhaps we will be up for the challenge of caring for living and breathing plants but for now, we are thankful to have acquired some decent-looking fake ones that enhance the look of our space. May you find some useful tips and recommendations in our post!
  • First off is this spineless yucca plant that sits in the corner of our dining room. We chose this species because we really love the unique look it offers that differs from the usual leafy greens. We paired it with a rattan look-a-like pot which is actually ceramic in material. Unfortunately, the local French shop which we bought the pot from has already closed down. We would have loved to purchase other decorative items from them as this pot is really gorgeous and provides visual appeal through its textured surface.
  • The next tallest faux plant that we have in our house is the black King Kong rubber tree which you can spot in the corner of our study room. For those who have been following us for a long time, you might have seen it in our living room prior!
  • Here's a close-up of the black King Kong rubber tree! It is a pretty decent faux plant that doesn't look too fake and we love that its darker shades of colour match the rest of the black aesthetic in the room.
  • On the table itself, we decided to spruce it up with some light and bright colours so as to make the workspace less depressing.
  • This faux arrowhead plant is one of our favourites as it looks really genuine. Highly recommended if you are looking for a similar leafy plant!
  • Moving into the master bedroom is another faux plant - this time of bamboo leaves! This choice of species is a bit more sentimental as the Mr and I had gotten closer while planting bamboo seedlings in the past. While Feng Shui masters may advise against having plants in the bedroom, we do find that it helps to bring some natural elements into the bedroom to create a more calming space.
  • Here's a close-up of the leaves! While this plant looks pretty decent, we would say that the finishing isn't the best with some glue stains and initially slanting shape (perhaps due to rough transport). We needed to shift and bend the plant a little to give it a more balanced weight and shape.
  • Next would be the faux plants in our toilets!
  • Admittedly, the leaves don't look 100% real when seen up-close but it definitely helps to add some greenery to our master bathroom.
  • In the other corner of our master bedroom sits a vase of faux heliconias.
  • You can tell from this picture that quite a bit of effort went into producing these faux flowers! There's a smooth lovely gradient created as the colours change from orange to yellow and finally green at the tips of the petals.
  • In the kitchen, we have a faux plant and a real plant. Can you spot them from this wide angle photograph?
  • First on the countertop is our fake begonias that came with a vase. We feel that it was paired really nicely by the seller itself and credits do go to them for styling it well!
  • Last but not least would be the only live plant we have in out home - this moonshine snake plant which was a lovely gift from a friend! With it only needing to be watered twice a week, this is a really great beginner plant for those who are looking to start working on their green fingers.
  • Zooming out from the kitchen, we have our niches that showcase another faux plant.
  • This is another one of our favourite faux plants with twisty brown wires that act like stems of the plant. The benefit of the stems being made of flexible material is that you can easily shape the plant to your desire. Additionally, the leaves are of lovely different shades of orange which add to the realism that the plant gives off.
  • For the last plant, we have another lovely orange leafy stalk!
  • Adding to the continuous theme of pops of orange in our living room, this single stalk of autumn leaves helps to brighten this corner of our living room. We paired it with the white ceramic vase in an attempt to still keep to the consistency of having white items on our TV console. And that concludes our post on plants in our home! We hope that you were able to find inspiration from our choices and wish you all the best in styling your home with plants too! (: Your silent cheerleaders, Mr and Mrs T
