  • What should you look out for when selecting a HDB unit?
Here are some considerations we had when choosing our home: 1. House facing direction ☀️🌥️
We wanted some sun, so the house isn’t too gloomy, but definitely not the afternoon sun ❌ we went with a North East facing unit so we always wake up to pretty sun rays!
  • 2. Home layout We wanted a layout where we would have a designated dining + dry pantry area despite it being a 4 room apartment. We opted for a unit with a L shaped layout where the kitchen entrance is where the dry pantry is at, instead of a galley kitchen which many units have.
  • 3. High Floor As both of us are super scared of pests, having a high floor ensures that we don’t have pests visiting us! We don’t want to be on the highest floor because my parents’ home was the highest floor and trust me, the heat is unbearable……. So we opted for a high but not the highest floor 😌
  • Some other considerations would include: Privacy - choose a unit that’s not too close to the next block! Noise level - choosing a unit that’s not facing the train track or the expressway Accessibility - our block is connected to the carpark so the minute we are on the first floor, we just need to walk 5-10 steps and we’re already in the carpark. But because we don’t drive, we just need to walk 2 mins, cutting through the carpark to the bus stop!
