  • This week, we’re featuring our guest room! We kept most of the room as it was, except for plastering an oddly shaped wall to give the space a more uniform look. Simplicity was key here. We even brought over the bedframe and mattress from our old place, both from MUJI—because it felt wasteful to let go of such quality furniture. And the wall niche above serves a convenient place to store your belongings without taking up floor space like a side table.
  • The original layout included a recessed wall that made the space feel awkward, and the wall to the right wasn’t wide enough to fit a single bed without it sticking out past the edge. To solve this, we decided to plaster the entire wall and leave a niche in the middle. This not only made the room feel more uniform but also created a functional and visually appealing feature.
  • This is the 3D rendering provided by our ID firm. We also chose to place the wardrobe along the door wall to keep it out of sight when entering, which helps maintain a feeling of spaciousness in the room.
  • Halfway done! The next step was only to install the wooden shelves.
  • While it doubles as a display for some of the interesting things we found during our travels, we eventually will change its use to a bookshelf as well.
  • The finished wardrobe! We opted for recessed handles to avoid accidentally bumping into them or snagging clothes. This choice keeps the design sleek and practical.
  • We also installed full blackout curtains in every bedroom. While fitting a queen-size bed in the guest room was a bit snug, it turned out to be a great choice when our parents visited, ensuring their comfort and privacy.
