  • Welcome to our open concept kitchen! It was initially a closed up space but we found the kitchen to be very claustrophobic so we knocked down the walls to open up the space. This helps us keep an eye on the kids when we are cooking in the kitchen too!
  • One of the biggest concern of having an open concept kitchen is usually the cooking smells and fumes which comes along when we cook. To mitigate this, we happen to have a window we centered around the induction hob which we will open during heavy cooking, and planned for as a strong hood as well. The Ninja Foodi has also been a great kitchen tool which helps to minimise oil during cooking too!
  • Having an open kitchen also means we have to keep our kitchen space neat and tidy to maintain a decluttered space. Cutlery organisers are also essential to help organise drawers, do measure well to ensure it fits well! Having a cutlery organiser right under our cooking stove also makes it easier to grab utensils during cooking.
  • Drawers are great to access items even if its placed in the deeper part of the drawer, but it can also be restrictive in terms of height and the drawer sliding track also takes up space. If space permits, we would recommend planning for both drawers and cabinets with adjustable tracks to make it more flexible.
  • Drawer within a drawer are also great as we do not necessarily always need deep drawers, but still prefer to maintain a cleaner look with lesser drawers from the exterior.
  • We try to keep spices in dark, dimly lit areas. Too much exposure to light and heat can affect the consistency of the herbs.
  • We only keep the essential cooking oils and sauces displayed out, but in aesthetic decanters to maintain a neater look!
