  • Here’s what our living room looks like today but we started with a very close to original 30 year old condition home. We decided at the very beginning of our journey that an older resale flat was what we wanted as it had the balance of size vs cost that would meet our needs.
  • This is the before! It was so spacious and squarish but we were at a loss of how to best use the space. Where would the dining table go? How could we optimise flow to the kitchen? Where can we put a study? The possibilities excited us and we knew from the first look that this was the unit for us.
  • We made the decision to fully back away 1 room and create a trapezoidal glass study, to let light into the kitchen. Our decision was validated during the reno when we felt the drastic difference in the openness of the space after the room was hacked. The visual flow created was also a great benefit to hacking the room.
  • The size of the kitchen also really wowed us during the viewing and we could see so much potential in the space.
  • To keep costs down, we also simply plastered over the existing tiles instead of attempting to retile the kitchen. This was because most of it would be covered by carpentry anyway.
  • This is our kitchen today! A much more updated contemporary look, with some workflow changes that optimise the space for us. We hope to be able to add in a movable island, to further maximise the space.
