  • Welcome to one of my favourite spaces in the home :) When people see my home gym, they usually think it’s for my husband when in fact, it’s for me! I have always loved lifting weights since I started working out. And after I signed myself up for a women’s 8-week strength training plan, I fell in love even further with the beauty of weight lifting. I knew from the very beginning that I wanted a home gym, but I only worked on it 1 year after I moved in after all the important expenses were settled.
  • While I enjoyed admiring home gym equipments, I was not a fan of the dark colours that most of them were coloured. Typically, they can be found in blacks, reds & bright neon colours. While I couldn’t really choose the colours of my power rack since I got them secondhand from Carousell, I was able to choose pastel macaroon colours for my weight plates instead. And I was only able to do so by purchasing them from Taobao! Locally, it’s hard to find such colours. And even if I did, the prices would be exorbitantly high.
  • Of course, with every home gym, it needs a pink bench for those bench press days!
  • All my barbell related equipments are all olympic sized I didn’t want to have to worry about parts not fitting one another since I was buying them all from different stores. So, yes, my olympic barbell is 1.8m which is 12kg. I would have preferred a 15kg one, but they didn’t have it. There’s also a 2.2m one but I was concerned that it would occupy most of the room width.
  • After a few trial run workouts with my gym, I then got some attachments that would help with my workouts. I’m quite pleased with how versatile my power rack is because of the cable system that came with it.
  • Lat rope pull down attachments are also necessary in a gym!
  • The floor mats are actually 2.5cm foam mats meant for babies. As much as I wanted the better quality ones, even Taobao would have costed me around $200. So, I got these instead which helps in the meantime to reduce noise against the floor.
  • At the corner of the room, I have a rack that we found downstairs during the renovation period. Fun fact, it was actually the first furniture we brought in! 😆 Currently, I have some dumbbell weight plates. This was actually a set that I got back in 2021. It can be converted into a mini barbell, but these days, I only use it as a dumbbell. I don’t think they sell this specific set anymore but I’ll link a similar item!
  • Here’s just our miscellaneous gear, like our grip socks (because we don’t use shoes in the gym), gloves, massage ball & extra mat pieces that I use as a cushion for when I do barbell hip thrusts.
  • We have to keep our yoga mats in here because our cats apparently loves doing yoga as well. They have showed so much love to our mats.😆 And that’s all to our humble little home gym. Of course there’s still room for improvements & changes, but we’re not in a rush to implement them any time soon. For now, I am happy with this little safe haven I have created for both myself and my husband to enjoy.
