  • Hello! Welcome to heiwa home @hei.wa.home. Heiwa translates to peace from japanese and that was our main aim when creating own home. We wanted to create a space that could evoke peace and calmness, away from the hectic and busy world outside. Our theme was Wabi- Sabi which incorporates neutral colours, a rustic feel and wood. This is a 4 room SBF unit and I must say, we got really lucky! The whole process from applying for SBF to moving in took us under a year. Applied for SBF in Aug 2023 > Selection and down payment in Nov 2023 > Key collection Jan 2024 > Moved in July 2024! We were really tight on budget considering that we totally did not expect to get this SBF after many failed BTO attempts. Hence we did not engage an ID and did all of the designing ourselves. It is still a work in progress but lets grow together!
  • Lets start with the floor plan. When we saw our floor plan, the first thing we knew we wanted to do was to knock down the wall of Bedroom 3. Having grew up in a 5-room flat and having many family gatherings at home, we knew we wanted a bigger living and dining area. As a couple with no kids (yet) we knew we could afford to free up a room to help expand the living and dining area. Because we got a SBF, we did not get to choose between and open or closed kitchen concept. But we love an open kitchen concept anyway! Having the bomb shelter in the kitchen instead of the living area like other units was something we really liked too.
  • Here's our living space. We kept our space minimal with neutral colours. Added some greenery for a pop of colour. We limewashed our walls to give it a rough and rustic look. I must say, limewashing looks so much easier to do than it actually is.
  • Castlery was one of our favourite furniture shops to go to, with affordable yet beautiful pieces that suit our space. For our flooring, we went to EVOrich Amsterdam eggshell. We were considering between a darker or lighter colour but decided to go with something more neutral so that we can play around with our furnitures and decor more.
  • The morning sunlight we get in our space is just amazing!!! But unfortunately that is the only sunlight we get through the entire day. So I got to get up bright and early to capture photos and then head back to bed XD
  • My mum like to say that we designed our house based on the colour theme of my dog, Pebble. Well.... I guess she is not wrong!
  • One of my favourite parts of our home, the pantry. I (Pristina) am a professional chef and after getting our own space, I decided to do Private Dining! For those who are not familiar with private dining, it is essentially a restaurant from home. I serve guests in the comfort of my own home, providing a unique and intimate dining experience! You can check out my work at @fragmentdining. With that being said, the kitchen and dining space is so important to us!
  • The top shelf was a tiny space for us to display things we have collected and bought from our trips.
  • We bought all our wine glasses from Taobao. I must say, I am extremely impressed with the quality and the shipping company I used. Out of the many wine glasses I have purchased, there were only 3 broken glass which was replaced for me.
  • We got a 2.1m dining table to accommodate our private dinners. This could only be done so because we knocked down bedroom 3. The dining table was customized on Taobao which saved us soooo much!
  • One of our biggest struggles was designing the kitchen. Will go more in depth in another post. Our main goal: a space for a big fridge and oven.
  • This was bedroom 3 which we knocked down! It is now still a work in progress but here is how to take advantage of the morning sunlight.
  • Welcome to our cozy beroom! We kept it as minimal as possible. We were so drawn in by Castlery's Dawson bed and so we designed our bedroom based on the size of the bed. Excuse our crumpled sheets. Does anyone even iron their sheets???
  • Our guest bathroom: we overlayed all the tiles in the bathroom because we did not like the original tiles.... Kept it as simple and clean as possible for easy maintenance considering that we have guests over frequently.
  • This is our master bathoom. We kept our built ins limited to the kitchen and the bathroom. We designed a large sliding storage mirror which is so convenient to store our daily skincare.

I guess that all for now. Thank you for reading our post! Do follow us on instagram @hei.wa.home for updates and to grow with us as we add more personality to our space.
