  • Hey everyone, and welcome to a virtual tour of my happy place – my 1227sqft home nestled in Tengah! We love chasing sunsets around the world, so we’re glad to share with you snippets of @sunsetsattengah.
  • Before we dive in, let me give you a quick rundown of the layout. It's a nice, square-ish design, but with a unique challenge: a bomb shelter right in the middle. This means open-concept kitchen, which would have been ideal for our love of hosting, is off the table. We also decided to keep all the existing walls for better room definition.
  • We had a clear vision – a warm and inviting haven we call "sand-sory." Knowing exactly what we wanted, we meticulously planned the design and bypassed hiring an interior designer. Instead, we worked directly with a main contractor to bring our vision to life.
  • What's "Sand-sory"? It's our playful term for a sand-coloured theme! We use nude tones, combined with travertine accents and touches of walnut wood, to create a sense of tranquility and cozy vibes. It's all about practicality and comfort, without sacrificing style.
  • Since our apartment faces southwest, it gets bathed in afternoon sun. This is great for natural light, but also means strategic heat management is key. To combat the summer warmth, we've embraced beautiful curtains and blinds that offer both style and function.
  • This 5-room BTO came with the Optional Component Scheme (OCS) already installed, including vinyl flooring in some rooms and tiles throughout. While it wasn't our initial choice, we got creative! We overlaid vinyl in the living area and overlaid tiles in the master bathroom to achieve our desired "sand-sory" look.
  • While the OCS didn't perfectly match our "sand-sory" vision, we saw potential! We decided to keep the existing tiles in the kitchen and common toilet, focusing on adding complementary elements through carpentry. In the kitchen, we maximized storage and prep space by building one full-height cabinet and another half-height cabinet. This allows for additional kitchenware and future appliances, all while maintaining a clean aesthetic.
  • Similarly, the common toilet received a simple yet impactful update. We added a cabinet for essentials and a strategically placed mirror that stretches along one wall. This creates the illusion of a wider space and reflects more light, making the toilet feel airier.
  • For our master toilet, we overlaid wall and floor tiles that are painstakingly selected that continues with the "sand-sory" vibes.
  • The way the warm light shines on the textured wall just gives it so much more dimension!
  • Stepping into the master bedroom is like entering a haven designed purely for optimal sleep. Every night, we melt into our cloud-like bed, wrapped in silky-soft sheets, and drift off within seconds. The blackout curtains ensure complete darkness, allowing us to sleep soundly until the morning alarm. This bedroom transformation has been a life-changer, promoting deeper, more restful sleep.
  • This is just the beginning of our "sand-sory" journey! In future posts, I'll be diving deeper into specific areas of the apartment, sharing decorating tips, and showcasing how we've made this space our own. Want to see more?
