  • Welcome to our home! Homeofthelaions is home to us and our 3 kids ages 4,8,12. This is the original floor plan. Come and see how we transform this place to be our cozy and inviting home!
  • With kids, storage is definitely a top priority to keep mess/toys hidden. Here at the entryway, we did a wraparound carpentry that consists of a shoe cabinet and plenty of storage. To break the monotony of the huge carpentry, we created curved niches at the shoe cupboard and the living room area so that we can display some sentimental items.
  • We placed the TV console area, alter and additional storage all on one side of the living room to create a streamlined look. We only used one light coloured laminate paired with a wooden one for some contrast throughout the living room. This in turn makes the living room brighter and looks more airy.
  • We hacked the utility room and the helper's toilet away to create a dining area as previously the dining area was really small. As we do not have a helper, the helper's toilet was redundant and making the utility room smaller helped to expand the living room area, making the living room more spacious.
  • The kitchen is the heart of our home. I spend alot of time in here cooking and baking for the family. You would notice that our kitchen is a closed concept one because the kitchen wall was unhackable due to internal structure. Initially I was sad that I would not get an open concept kitchen as it is in trend nowadays. However, after living here and using the kitchen, I m glad it's a closed kitchen now. Imagine not being able to sing to Taylor swift while cooking or baking as the husband is working from home and on a conference call 😅. Our kitchen leads to the service yard. We hacked the door in between the yard and the kitchen mainly to open up the kitchen space and this allows air flow throughout the house as well. Opening up the space also allows us to extend our kitchen countertop which is much needed when cooking or baking!
  • This is our masterbedroom. We kept it simple with no build ins like vanity table/area or TV console as it suit our lifestyle. We wanted storage so we had ceiling to floor carpentry for our wardrobes spanning across one whole wall. Doing so creates an illusion of space we feel. We bought a storage bed for more storage space as well. If you are wondering where our toilet is....
  • Our master toilet is concealed within our wardrobes! A sense of mystery I guess... haha... would you have a concealed bathroom?
  • Welcome to our bathroom! We closed up the original bathroom door to cater fitting in a bathtub and a shower area in the same area. This was unlike the previous design where the bathtub and shower area was in opposite ends, which was quite poor space planning. Now the bathroom has some hotel vibes and our kids love spending time in the bath tub!
  • Last but not least, our powder room for our guests! A powder room is a toilet without shower facilities. With a wooden beams separatong the two colours , it gives our powder room a colonial feel to it.
  • There you have it! A short hometour of homeofthelaions! Stay tuned when we go into more details of our renovation decisions!
