Where Creativity Meets Comfort: Building Our Own Cozy Hobby Space

Hobbies are more than just a way to pass time—they are an essential part of a balanced and fulfilling life. Mister E and I count ourselves blessed to have hobbies that we are passionate about. While it is important to do our best and add value be it at work, relationships or anywhere life places us, it is also important to also be passionate and find joy in doing life and one of the ways is through hobbies, where they enrich our life, provide joy, and contribute to a healthier, happier us. As such, we decided to convert the common room to a recreational room where it is a space where we can retreat, unwind and recharge. Mister E is an avid fan of marvel movies and anime. He loves catching up on their latest movies, series and loves collecting their many posters and figurines. Initially Mister E proposed displaying his figurines all over the house which was much to my disapproval (cause aesthetics) HEHE. Being a good & supportive wife, I allowed him to display his signature posters & figurines here, as an extension from his mancave. Love the contrast of the vibrant colours against our dark & neutral coloured shelves. As we also want to consider converting this room to a baby room in the future, we love how these kallax shelves & storage boxes from Ikea are easily adaptable. For now, it is used to store the many figurines of Mister E where he will change out and switch his displays occasionally. The bright green ukulele was an instrument I picked up a few years ago. One of my hobbies is singing and I love singing alongside with musical instruments. Don't you think that music just soothes the soul so much? Here, we created a comfortable seating because what's a chill and cosy room without a seating area that you can sink in right? The smooth rocking and 360-degree swivel functions of this lounge chair makes it perfect for relaxation. For this display shelf, we love how the shelves are adjustable, making it flexible for Mister E to change his set up according to his figurines display. Next to our comfortable lounge chair is this table lamp. We love how this integrates a standing lamp and a side table, allowing us to display personal touches, diffuser to set a relaxing tone and also support a cup of coffee when I indulge in my reads. Love how this lounge chair can be set up in this format, making it such a pleasure to indulge in my coffee and reads. Absolutely love how reading promotes personal growth as it involves learning new skills or improving existing ones. Somedays, I just listen to thought-provoking podcasts and stare into the clouds as I reflect and chew on the new learnings. Sometimes, we just love to do nothing and just simply soak in the moment. As we are blessed with a garden view, we love to watch the world go by. Sometimes, I love it that I also get to wave at my family members who are here to visit us and are chilling at the garden! Opposite our lounge chair is our red keyboard! As Mister E and I love music, we absolutely find joy in jamming. Somedays when I am feeling low & tired, I jam to worship songs. Somedays, I jam to the different song genres playlists in my Spotify. Somedays, I imagine myself to be holding my own solo concert with my one & only fan- Mister E HAHAHAHA! But in all seriousness, music is so therapeutic and whenever I touch the keyboard, a good few hours can just fly by. Creating a cozy corner isn’t just about the aesthetics, it’s about how the space makes you feel. Whether it’s for reading, meditating, or just daydreaming, we love how we made it into a space where it helps us feel calm, comfortable and at peace. It is on a bittersweet note that this is my last post for this season. It has been a joy and honour sharing about our first lovenest here :) I find it so apt that I am ending this season with a post about hobbies & passion.
