  • Hello once again! Welcome to our open concept kitchen! Our kitchen is an open concept one, designed with spaciousness, ease of interaction with guests in mind. ICYMI, the mister is a chef by profession, and the kitchen was designed with his ideals in mind. The 2 non-negotiables were an island (peninsula in our case) stove, and a big wine cooler - both attained as seen in the picture :)
  • Here's how it looks like behind the peninsula! The workflow path was thought out by the mister, with the ease of retrieving ingredients from the fridge with it just being the stove and big work tops on both the peninsula and against the wall. We're both a little tall (hehe), so we requested our ID to increase the height of the surfaces to be a bit higher than the standard 90cm. This allows our arms to be at a more comfortable height when prepping dishes! We were lucky that our ID was meticulous enough to highlight this to us during our meeting - note to always highlight such details to yours too as its for your own comfort in the long run!
  • For the drawers beside the standing cooker, we've opted for condiment racks for convenience. Despite its narrow look, it can store all of the condiments we have!
  • Beside our fridge is the shelving area where we have our frequently used appliances placed. The layer where the air fryer is placed is a pull-out drawer, as we wanted to disperse the heat emitted from the fryer after use. They each have their own "home" so there is no need to bring them in and out like how I did when I was living with my parents :)
  • To its left would be where our sink + smaller worktop is at. The mister initially didn't want the shelving above the sink as he wanted a clean look (yes we don't have a dish rack lol - I think its a crazy idea for a chef to not want one, especially when he uses multiple pans/plates/bowl at one go 😂), but our ID suggested to have it because it would've looked super bare and weird (I agree haha 😛) For now, we're using it to display the kombucha that we ferment (spot the 2 empty glass vessels?). Perhaps we will find other usage for this with time to come?
  • We also customised a cutlery tray from Taobao for it to be an exact fit in our drawer. The quality did not disappoint! There were standard template for the compartments to choose from - though I wish it could have been fully customised down to the height and width for each compartment but this was good enough! :)
  • Our sink that we have no regrets getting! The ledges inside the sink are meant to rest the chopping board (a free gift with purchase) on it, so yay - extra worktop! The pull down faucet is also god sent especially when washing down the sink. The jet function helps us to remove any particles stuck in corners too.
  • Ending this week's post with a #throwback of one of the meals we whipped up for party we hosted in our home! Do follow us on IG @hausofsoh if you want to see more of our home!
