  • When it comes to planning the layout of our dining area, we’ve always envisioned an open kitchen concept because it creates an illusion of a larger space. We also wanted to incorporate and island countertop to serve as a casual “bar” area for relaxation or for baking purposes. Upon getting our keys to our new place, we saw that the space was sufficiently large to integrate an island top into our dining table, providing added convenience for our parents, grandparents when they visit for meals/gathering. For those who are keen, our dining table has a length of 1.5m, while our island top measures 1.02m.
  • Here’s another view of our dining area. We added extra table top and cabinets behind for more table top space and storage. We also opted for some open shelving and alcoves for decorating purposes.
  • Full view of this area. We have a coffee machine on the left and an oven on the right. The cabinets offer us ample storage, from bakewares to first aid/medication, snacks and more.
  • Some decor pieces to complete the look.
  • We added fake books from Taobao to decorate our open shelves.
  • More decorative pieces. The cute owls were gifted from our friends and the lil mushroom is actually a toothpick holder.
  • A closer look at our island top, we have fluted panels below our island top. It was a last minute request to our ID to add these fluted panels to elevate the look of our dining and no regrets! They are not hard to maintain either.
  • Ending this post off with another pov of our living area. We love how this area turned out to be. Thank you for reading till the end :)
